Robert Hugin, MBA Former Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Celgene Corporation Biography Bob Hugin is a business and civic leader based in New Jersey. He chairs the state committee of the New Jersey Republican Party and is a board member of the Garden State Initiative, a nonpartisan research and educational organization focused on economic issues in New Jersey. He is also a charter trustee of Princeton University and the immediate past chair of the Board of Trustees of The Darden School Foundation, University of Virginia. He is a director of The Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy and a longstanding member of the Board of Trustees of Family Promise, a national nonprofit network assisting homeless families. He is also a director of Chubb Limited, Biohaven Pharmaceuticals and Nereid Therapeutics. He retired in February 2018 from Celgene Corporation, an innovative biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of transformational therapies for unmet medical needs in cancer and immune-inflammatory disease. He joined Celgene in 1999 and served as CEO from 2010 through 2016. In 2018 he was a candidate for the US Senate from New Jersey. He is a past chair of the Boards of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey. Prior to Celgene, he was a managing director with J.P. Morgan & Co. Mr. Hugin received an AB from Princeton University in 1976 and an MBA from the University of Virginia in 1985. During the intervening period, he served as a United States Marine Corps infantry officer. He and his wife, Kathy, have three children and live in Summit, New Jersey.
